Explore Rural Tourism
The promotion of Indian rural tourism has been given special importance by the Indian Tourism Department. A new initiative called Explore Rural Tourism has been launched to tap the potential of unexplored destinations in the remotest rural locations where domestic and foreign travellers could discover the best of what Rural India has to offer. They can explore rural arts, heritage and stay at Village Homestays in the most remote parts of the country.

I read this a few months ago and thought it was a great idea. I think many countries have the setting to offer this type of experince. places like Australia, El Salvador and Costa Rica come to mind.

The villages of India forms the backbone of the country and yet this rural India have always remained unexplored and away from the prying eyes. I feel that “Explore Rural Tourism” is a very good program taken up by the Indian Tourism Department so we can discover the enchanting beauty of rural India…
